Netflix disappoints...

In the brinks of this horrid "recession" why not up the prices. Most of us are lowering ours, accepting less work, not finding jobs and losing our homes. Yes, its only 8.00 more BUT this makes no sense... I mean how much over head is there? Oh wait, there are not that many video stores any more and people are leaving their cable companies left and right. Guess Netflix thinks its a good opportunity to cash in. I am bummed.

Dear janell,

We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.

Your current $9.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be split into 2 distinct plans:

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $7.99 a month

Your price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.

These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

i think they are just moving forward with the way they see movies being rented through them. We already paid $15 for 2 movies ata time and the unlimited through the wii. I think more and more are using their game systems and computers to watch so they are just trying to make it for people to choose which they want to use. I still like the convenience of netflix and still way cheaper then doing redbox or video store. My only complaint will be if they don't add more movies available through the computer or wii since they didn't have as many available there.

Cotton spun fun!
